Verona Card
La Verona Card is (currently) the only tourist card available for visiting the city of Verona.
It allows free access (included in the price of the card) to almost all of Verona's tourist attractions, includes urban public transportation throughout its validity, as well as other minor but still interesting benefits.
In this guide we find out how the Verona Card works and how to take full advantage of its benefits.
INDEX
What is the Verona Card?
As mentioned in the introduction, the Verona Card is a tourist pass that allows us, at a predetermined and advantageous price, of Visit most of the tourist attractions in the city of Verona.
Very useful tool during a trip to explore the city of Verona, whether it is a day visit, a weekend (even a long one) or a longer stay.
Like all tourist passes, the principle of the Verona Card is to offer cost savings to tourists by providing access to the city's most important and interesting tourist attractions at a significantly cheaper price than having to buy individual entrance tickets.
Its official motto, also stated in the card, is "Go everywhere, see everything, spend little," just to make the point.
If we prepare an optimized itinerary for visiting Verona, we will be able to make the most of this opportunity, maximizing the things seen and - therefore - the savings achieved.
This Verona pass also includes access to Verona's urban public transportation (ATV ) for its entire validity, another decidedly convenient and attractive feature.
Buy the Verona Card NowHow does the Verona Card work?
The Verona Card is a very comprehensive tourist pass, all too much so in some ways.
Broadly speaking it includes:
- Free access to most of Verona's attractions and sights
- Reduced admission to other "minor" attractions
- Use of urban public transportation in Verona (mainly buses)
- Free access to attractions outside the city (even outside the region).
The presence of museums and attractions outside the region also stems from the fact that Verona is often an itinerant stop on a larger sightseeing tour, and since it is the only pass available, this opportunity was also encouraged.
Buy the Verona Card NowSkip the line option
The "Skip the Line" option, when there is one, is always super welcome!
Included in the Verona Card is skip-the-line access only for the Arena di Verona - that is, its most important attraction.
It tends to be the attraction that accumulates the most visitors and - consequently - the most queues at the entrance, between ticket counters and security checks.
Visiting the Arena di Verona with this pass will give you priority access, cutting down the bulk of the wait, thus saving you time as well as money.
For all the other Verona attractions included in the pass, the skip-the-line option is NOT included, but honestly, most of the time you would not benefit from it, as the other attractions, while still popular and constantly visited, rarely accumulate such major queues.
In any case, a good, well-organized itinerary-capable of distributing sign attractions at the least crowded times-gives you extra assurance in this regard.
What does the Verona Card include?
The Verona Card really includes many things, more than can actually be visited in the 2 days max of its validity.
Its widespread coverage satisfies both the classic need to visit the cartel attractions and those who want to devote themselves to lesser-known museums and attractions of great artistic-cultural value (perhaps on a return visit to the city).

The following attractions all charge an entrance fee, and are all included free with the Verona Card.

Free admissions outside Verona

- Mart - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rovereto (TN)
- Depero Futurist Art House, Rovereto (TN)
- Buonconsiglio Castle, Trento (TN)
- Muse - Museum of Science, Trento (TN)
Paradoxically, the Verona Card also becomes useful for those visiting only the museums of Trentino Alto Adige, as the savings are still appreciable even if we limit the visit to only these museums.
Public transportation included
Public transportation in Verona's ATV network is included, throughout the validity of the Verona Card.
You will mainly take advantage of city buses, which save you time while moving from one attraction to another, thus optimizing time and saving energy.
On this page you will find the timetables of public transportation (ATV) - urban lines only.
Validity and price of the Verona Card?
The Verona Card is distributed in two versions, the purchase of which is recommended for ages 14 and older (completed).
In fact, as also stated on the supplier's website, many attractions in Verona provide free or reduced admission for children up to the age of 14.
In this case, purchasing the Verona Card would be less convenient than for people 14 and older.
It is still to be evaluated based on your itinerary of things you want to do/see in the days available.
- Verona Card 24 hours, priced at €27
- Verona Card 48 hours, at the price of €32
The validity of the Verona Card is on an hourly basis.
To give a concrete example, it means that if you activate the card today at 4 pm, it will be valid until tomorrow at 4 pm.
So consider the time of activation well to make the most of the card's coverage according to your itinerary.
Verona Card for children
Children up to age 8 never pay and therefore get in free all the time without a card.
From age 8 to 14 for most museums and attractions access is free or reduced, so the purpose of the card is scaled back.
Card that still remains potentially valid for under 14s for access to the means, and if most of the attractions you want to see provide only reduced (and not free) access under 14.
This should be checked on the basis of the individual attractions you are interested in.
Does the Verona Card pay off?
It is quite easy to grasp the excellent convenience of the Verona Card.
In summary, we can say that by visiting at least 2 attractions in a day, the Verona Card is cost -effective.
In this table we report the costs of some entrance fees to popular attractions, with and without the pass (we report only the adult cost because children up to 8 years old do not pay and children up to 14 have favorable reductions already without the card).
ATTRACTION | WITHOUT CARD - ADULTS | WITH VERONA CARD |
---|---|---|
ARENA OF VERONA - Skip-the-line admission | 10 euro | Free of charge, included in the card |
Juliet House | 6 euro | Free of charge, included in the card |
Juliet's Tomb | 4,50 euro | Free of charge, included in the card |
Museum of Natural History | 4,50 euro | Free of charge, included in the card |
Museum of Castelvecchio | 6 euro | Free of charge, included in the card |
Lamberti Tower | 6 euro | Free of charge, included in the card |
Giusti Garden | 10 euro | 7 euro |
Maffei Palace - House Museum | 14 euro | 12 euro |
City public transportation day pass | 4 euro | Free of charge, included in the card |
If with good organization we see more than 2 attractions in a day, the convenience increases greatly.
If we make this account in the 48 hours, the convenience ratio increases so much, because the 2-day card costs only 5€ more than the 1-day card.
24 or 48 hours?
It immediately jumps out at you how the convenience is clearly in favor of the 48-hour cut.
Although day tourists are by no means uncommon in Verona, it is statistically more likely to stay at least one weekend, thus making the most of the 48-hour card.
For more extensive trips (3-4 days, in conjunction with bridges or spring holidays), with stays above 2 days, it will be possible to possibly combine the purchase of multiple Verona cards until the time coverage best suited to your trip is achieved.
Where to buy VeronaCard
The fastest and easiest way to purchase Verona Card is online, through the Tiqets portal accessible from the links in this guide.
Buy the Verona Card NowThe site is user-friendly, and you pay by credit card, PayPal or Google Pay.
For a small addition (+12% - so just over 2 euros), you have the option to cancel your purchase free of charge with a full refund, within 24 hours from the day of arrival in Verona.
Useful option in case of program changes, or unexpected cancellations.
Once you arrive in the city, the digital voucher received after your purchase must be converted to the actual card.
You must pick it up at the IAT Info Point, located at 61 Via Leoncino, right in the center near the Arena of Verona.
It is open daily, Mon-Sat hours 9am-5pm, Sundays 9am-4pm.
Check online for schedule changes before you leave.
Although the need to convert the online purchase to a physical card at the tourist office is fundamentally inconvenient (but in fact the only option available),buying online greatly speeds up the paperwork required for pickup. If you are able to go early in the morning during opening hours, you will also avoid any possible queues at the IAT office, with the whole day ahead to take advantage of.
Buy the Verona Card NowAlternatively, the Verona Card can be purchased directly on site, again at the Tourist Information and Reception Office. It is also on sale at all museums/sites visited with the Card, including at the time of the first visit, in some hotels.
Note: which date to indicate when purchasing
When purchasing, the "date on which you will make the visit" should be indicated, at least that is what the item is called.
Actually, after asking customer service for clarification, we understood that you have to indicate the date you are going to pick up the Verona Card, i.e., the day of first use.
Then the actual validity starts from the time you visit the first attraction included.
So, the date you pick up the card is not necessarily the date you arrive in Verona, but the date you start using it according to your travel arrangements.
I recommend that you go to pick it up early in the morning of the designated day so that you have the full day to use it.
Questions and answers about the Verona Card
You need to show it at the time you purchase your visit to the attraction of your choice. In case you inaugurate it with a bus trip, you will need to obliterate it.
You can get it even months in advance, in fact for its validity does not matter the date of purchase but the date of activation, i.e. first use.
In the case of Juliet's House, for example, from November 2022 online reservations are also required for Verona Card holders.
Reservations can be made on the Verona Museums website.
Rides on public transportation are unlimited, within the 24 or 48 hours of the Card's validity.
The VeronaCard is neither returnable nor refundable.
There are no refunds in case of closure or modification of visiting hours, during strikes, holidays or for other reasons beyond the control of the organizers.
