Valencia cards and passes: opinions
The best known and most emblazoned option as a pass for Valencia is the Valencia Tourist Card.
Actually there is also another option that you can consider: it is the Valencia Digital Pass.
They are right now the two best passes for Valencia.
The Valencia Tourist Card has an advantage in terms of convenience and practicality and is in my opinion the most comprehensive solution. If your intention is to take a classic tourist vacation, visiting the city's museums and monuments, getting around by public transportation, it is most likely that this is the most suitable choice for your stay.
The Valencia Tourist Crad includes unlimited use of transportation, includes many museums and attractions (among the main ones in the city), discounts and other benefits.
The Valencia Digital Pass is best suited for a weekend in the city and if you already have a very clear idea of what to visit, deciding to enter the 3 attractions that are included (Oceanogràfic, Science Museum and Hemisfèric) and choosing another one on which you can enjoy a 10% discount.
Transportation is not included, but it does include the always welcome hop-on hop-off tourist bus (24-hour duration), a good alternative to public transportation (in short stays) because it generally takes you to all major points in the city.
Let us now find out about each of the two Valencia passes in detail.
Comparison of passes for Valencia
Valencia Tourist Card and Valencia Digital Pass are in my opinion two almost complementary passes.
The first(Valencia Tourist Card) is the perfect kit for the tourist taking a medium-long vacation, with the goal of visiting the city in depth.
It is convenient, includes access to virtually all municipal museums, includes public transportation, transfers to and from the airport.
Its different denominations of duration create the right flexibility for any itinerary.
It does not, however, include some of the most popular tourist attractions, such as theOceanogràfic, the Science Museum and theHemisfèric, which you will have to visit separately by purchasing tickets (the pass entitles you to several discounts on what is not included).
The Valencia Digital Pass, on the other hand, almost in reverse, covers only these 3 tourist attractions, to which it adds 24 hours of Hop-On / Hop-Off sightseeing bus (the one that takes you on a tour of the city by going through its main stops, with audio guide). It does not include any other museums or public transportation.
For this reason it tends to be better suited for weekends (2-3 days) and for those who aim to sample the city at its vital points, without delving into history and culture via its museums.
Which Valencia pass to choose?
So they are two passes that fit different philosophies and situations, and it is not out of the question to consider having both as well, with good itinerary organization.
The correct way to choose is to understand the type of vacation in Valencia you want to take, after understanding each pass well in detail, which we now see.
Valencia Tourist Card
La Valencia Tourist Card, commonly called Valencia Card, includes theunlimited use of public transportation (buses, streetcars and metro in zones A,B,C,D), the Free admission to municipal museums and monuments, plus additional discounts and benefits for Valencia's main tourist attractions, the tour, i stores and the restaurants conventions.
There are three types of cards, which differ in the length of validity: 24, 48, or 72 hours .
Also included with the Valencia Card is the Airport-Valencia route and vice versa (metro lines L3 and L5). The ticket would cost €4.90 each way (for a total of €9.80 A/R), but with the Valencia Card it is already included.
There is also a "special" option of this Card, the Valencia Tourist Card 7 days.
Unlike the options above, this Card does not include public transportation and includes free admission to the Cathedral and related museum (with audio guide).
An option to consider carefully, as the lack of transportation (which would have to be purchased separately) loses some of its appeal.
Ideal if for whatever reason you have a chance to get around the city without using transportation (you are someone's guest, rent a car, etc.)
List of museums and attractions Valencia Card
Included in the Valencia Card you will have free admission to many of Valencia's museums and monuments.
These are the city's municipal museums (not the private ones), which tend to suit those who also like to delve into the cultural-historical side of a city.
Below is a list of everything you can visit for free as it is included in the Valencia Tourist Pass:
- Lonja de la Seda
- Fallero Museum
- Museo de Historia de Valencia

In addition to these completely free museums and monuments, you'll get a discounted ticket to the Cathedral (10 percent off), Museo de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe (15 percent off),Hemisfèric (15 percent off),Oceanogràfic (15 percent off), and other offers on many tours, restaurants, stores, and admissions to other attractions in Valencia.

Valencia Tourist Pass Prices
The price varies according to the number of hours of validity.
Below are the prices:
- 24 hours € 15.00 - children 6-12 years old € 12.75
- 48 hours € 20.00 - children 6-12 years old € 17.00
- 72 hours € 25.00 - children 6-12 years old € 21.25
We chose to prefer to purchase the Valencia Touristi Pass on Tiqets (a reliable provider of tourist passes for Valencia) rather than on the official website.
Although there are also occasional small discounts on the official site from the list price, usually about 10%.
This choice is because through Tiqets you can CANCEL your PASS for FREE up to 24 hours before the date of your visit.
Most convenient option (which the official website does not offer) for any unforeseen travel or change of mind.
When does it pay off?
Whether you are visiting Valencia for the first time or want to take a classic tourist vacation to discover some of the city's attractions, this card for Valencia is sure to save you time and money, as well as being very practical. A single purchase to get almost total coverage.
Perhaps financially the savings are not striking, but they are there and should be added to the time savings and convenience of having one pass for attractions and museums.
Also estimate that discounts on other tourist attractions and activities (such as restaurants)-which are not counted in this quick calculation-impact quite a bit on the savings over 4-5 days of vacation.
If you decide to include activities or sightseeing tours in your travel itinerary-as I absolutely recommend-you decide to include activities or sightseeing tours, such as bike tours, walking tours, or sightseeing tours, then the savings become noticeable because of the discounts you can get with the pass.
As for the reduced Card for children, the issue may be different.
You have to consider that very often children under 12 can already get reductions for entry to many museums or tourist activities.
Also, public transportation in Valencia is free for children from 0 to 5 years old (as far as the bus is concerned) and for the metro up to 9 years old.
So assess your specific case well based on your itinerary.
Given the low prices of this pass anyway, when in doubt it is better to take the same pass foradults and children.
Combining case histories to save a few euros can cause quite a bit of organizational hassle.
How does it work?
The Valencia Card is individual, so you have to own one each and you cannot give it away.
Validity starts from the first use on public transportation or for entry to one of the attractions that are included.
Even if it has already been activated, the card must always be validated every time you board public transportation.
Days are calculated in hours, so if you use it for the first time at 3 p.m. on Monday, a 2-day card will expire at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, not at midnight on the second day.
For entry to museums or attractions, simply swipe the card under a reader, waiting for it to recognize it (the device's screen will light up green).
Along with the card you will be given a guidebook and a map of Valencia with all the addresses of monuments, museums, venues and all the discounts indicated.
Another advantage of this Card is also the fact that you can extend its duration by reloading it at any Tourist Info.
I would also remind you that inactive cards expire at the end of the current year.
Where to buy
The Valencia Tourist Card is best purchased online.
Actually, it can also be purchased at local tourist offices, digital kiosks or vending machines (in the Valencia airport), but thanks to Tiqets' cancellation policy it is better to leave already with the passes in your pocket, avoiding any hiccups once in the city.
At the time of purchase you will receive a voucher via email.
Once you arrive in Valencia you must hand the voucher to the tourist office where you can pick up the actual card.
Alternatively, you can also pick up the card at the digital kiosk at the airport (recommended) or have it mailed to your home or hotel once you arrive in Valencia.
>> I refer you to the official website for info on tourism offices and opening and closing times.
Valencia Digital Pass
The Valencia Digital Pass or commonly known as the Valencia Pass is a smaller solution than the Valencia Card, which is very often not mentioned in guidebooks or tourist sites. It is a pass that Allows you to visit the city's main attractions, which will most likely fit into your travel itinerary.
What is included?
Included in the Valencia Pass you will have free admission to 3 of the city's main attractions, you can use the tour bus for free for 24 hours, and you will have the opportunity to receive a discount on another attraction of your choice:
- Skip-the-line admission toOceanogràfic, Science Museum andHemisfèric (with audio guide).
- 24-hour access to Valencia's hop-on hop-off bus (with audio guide).
- Map and audio guide with descriptions of more than 100 points of interest and directions on foot or by public transport.
- 10 % discount on another Valencia attraction.
Valencia Digital Pass Prices
In this case the card is unique and the price varies only if you are eligible for reductions.
Below are the prices:
- Price € 65.00 - Adults
- Reduced € 56.00 - children 13 to 17 years old
- Reduced € 46.00 - children 8 to 12 years old
- Reduced € 29.10 - children from 4 to 7 years old
- Reduced € 54, 00 - over 65
When does it pay off?
The first thing that jumps out at you is the price, which is definitely different from the previous pass with "only" 3 attractions.
However, the Valencia DIGITAL Pass includes the 3 most expensive attractions in Valencia, so it is normal that the pass costs more accordingly.
Calculating the savings between individual tickets and the cost of the pass, taking into account also the Hop-On / Hop-Off bus tour for 24 hours, the financial savings are absolutely obvious.
The Valencia Pass is an attractive option that is well suited for those taking shorter vacations (the classic 2-3 day long weekend).
It allows you to visit Valencia's most popular attractions while saving money financially but also (and more importantly) saving time: included in the pass is line-skipping for all three of the city's most visited attractions.
The absence of public transportation is in this view bridged: in 2-3 days, by optimizing your commute, you will have less need for transportation, and even buying the rides you need will still keep the expense down.
In addition, for an entire day you have at your disposal the stop tour bus, which you can take whenever and however you want, and it continually makes the rounds of the city's vital points.
How does it work?
The Valencia Pass is not a physical pass, so you do not have to pick up anything when you arrive in Valencia, but purchase everything online.
At the time of purchase you must select the date of arrival in the city, which will be used to initiate hop-on hop-off bus tickets and access to the audio guide for Valencia.
Next you must enter the date and time slot for the visit to the Hemisfèric (the other two venues you can visit on the same day or within a maximum period of two days).
For admission to attractions or museums just show tickets directly from your phone.
Where to buy
You can purchase the pass on the Tiqets website, a reliable and secure portal where you can find affordable solutions for many attractions or museums.
You will receive your tickets via email along with a discount code (of 10%) that you can use to book another attraction in the city of your choice.
