Turin + Piedmont Card: review and comparison
If you are planning a vacation in Turin or Piedmont to visit the city and its great artistic and cultural heritage, I recommend that you consider purchasing the Turin + Piedmont Card.
The Torino Card really allows for some nice savings, as you will find explained on this page.

The Torino Card offers significant financial savings, and is undoubtedly a recommended purchase for those visiting Piedmont and this beautiful city.
Turin boasts internationally renowned museums, such as the Egyptian Museum, and a rich collection of modern and contemporary art exhibitions and museums. Also worth seeing are the many places associated with the Savoy courts and royal residences, such as the Reggia di Venaria, the Royal Museums, the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, and others.
And I am mentioning only the most important ones, Turin offers other interesting museums and attractions, such as the Automobile Museum, the Juventus Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art, and the Mole Antonelliana with its National Cinema Museum.
If we visit even 3 of these museums and attractions, with the Torino Card we have already saved a few euros, and everything else we see is free!
Each card allows entry for one adult and one child up to age 12, an additional savings if you are on a family vacation. For children under the age of 18, you can purchase the Torino + Piemonte Card Junior. It is only available, however, for the duration of 3 days.
In reviewing tourist passes and cards one often has to do a bit of balancing the economic aspect with the convenience of having a pass. For Turin go on the safe side, if you have not yet visited its wonders, buy the Turin + Piedmont Card.
What cards exist for Turin?
There are actually 2 cards for Torino: Torino + Piemonte Card and the Royal Pass.
The Torino + Piemonte Card is the most comprehensive pass, including all the main attractions plus other discounts and benefits. It is ideal for a classic tourist vacation in the city.
The other card, however, offers a dedicated, more niche approach. In fact, the Royal Pass offers an itinerary through royal residences to relive the pageantry of the ancient Savoy courts.

Included in the Turin + Piedmont Card you will have free admission to more than 80 museums, monuments, castles and royal residences in and around Turin.

The list of things to see included in the Card is much longer. In addition, you have a discounted ticket for the Mole Antonelliana elevator, the Sassi - Superga tramway and the "Venaria Express" shuttle, reductions and offers on many other activities, guided tours and discounted admission to other cultural sites in Piedmont.
The Torino + Piemonte Card does not include transportation, but it allows you to purchase multi-day tickets from GTT (the Turin bus, streetcar and metro company) at a discounted price. They are valid for 48 or 72 hours from the time of first validation.

When does it pay off?
Turin is a city with a rich artistic and cultural heritage, with many outstanding museums and attractions. For a classic sightseeing vacation, discovering some of these wonders, the pass saves you a lot of money.
To make a quick calculation, the average admission ticket for museums in Turin costs €15. Even just by visiting 3 attractions we therefore paid back the price of the 3-day Card! I
In addition, children up to 12 years of age get in free when accompanied by an adult with the Torino + Piemonte Card. If you are traveling as a family, the savings are truly remarkable!
As for the junior version, however, some separate math should be done.
For the city and state museums in Turin, in fact, children under the age of 18 get in for free, so it is not always so convenient to purchase, in economic terms.
Below is a table showing the prices of individual attractions, trying to pigeonhole the reductions for children and teens into the 0-12 years and 13-18 age groups (although the age groups for reductions vary from museum to museum).

If we consider that the Torino+Piemonte Card for 3 days costs €45, we save more than 50% and if a child is traveling with us, the savings is almost €100!
Even the junior card visiting these attractions still turns out to be affordable, albeit by a little.
In some museums and attractions you havepriority admission, such as the Royal Museums and the Venaria Reale. This also represents a nice advantage.
For the Egyptian Museum you have to book online, a prerequisite to avoid the long lines at the entrance.
The Torino Card is therefore also a very convenient tool, allowing you to book attractions online and skip the line.
During special events, such as Primavera dei Musei or other initiatives, museums and attractions in Turin may already have free admission or major discounts. In this case you lose the affordability of the Torino+Piemonte Card.
Also pay attention to closing days: some museums close on Mondays, so you may decide not to activate the card on this day or purchase it for a shorter period of time.
How does it work?
The Turin + Piedmont Card is basically a QR code that comes to you via email. At the entrance of the various attractions, just show this code to the staff, directly from your smartphone (or if you prefer also in a printed version), and you will get your free admission.
Just beware that for some museums you have to compulsorily book online in advance (I list them in detail later in this article).
From the first use, the Torino + Piemonte Card is valid for the next 48, 72, 120 hours. These are actual hours, not days, so if used for the first time in the afternoon, a 2-day card will expire 48 hours later and not at midnight on the second day.
It can be used simultaneously by an adult and a child under the age of 12. Additional savings if you are traveling with your children!
Also remember to show your card at other attractions or other points for which reductions or discounts are available.
Buy the Torino + Piemonte CardSmall clarification, no problem if the cards turn out to be all in the same person's name. Each QR Code is a unique code and that's what counts, the name doesn't matter.
If you buy the Torino Card on the spot instead, they will give you a "physical" card, with the QR Code printed on it. I don't recommend it though, because as I mentioned some attractions have to be booked in advance online and you will have everything ready before you leave.
Booking attractions and skip the line with Torino Card
With the Torino + Piemonte Card, you can book your admission, so you can skip the line and save valuable time. Definitely an added benefit offered by this card, as some attractions such as the Egyptian Museum are always super crowded throughout the year.
In some cases reservations are mandatory, in others they are recommended. Just keep in mind that if you show up directly at the entrance of the museum or attraction, there are no fast lanes for Torino Card holders.
The ticket remains free, you just have to be careful in selecting that you are a Torino+Piemonte Card holder when purchasing. In some cases there is an online booking fee, to be paid separately.
You will also need to make reservations for children under 18 years of age who hold the Junior version of the Card or any children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult with a Card.

The Royal Pass (formerly the Royal Card) is a 4-day pass which provides free access to the royal residences in and around Turin, temporary exhibitions included.

Compared with the Torino + Piemonte Card, temporary exhibitions are also included, and the validity period is longer.
The perfect pass for a dedicated, opulent itinerary among castles and royal residences. In addition, you have discounts and concessions for visiting other attractions in Turin as well.
If you are more interested in museums and other more touristy attractions, however, you are better off relying on the Torino + Piemonte Card.
The validity is always only 4 days, but the price is low and it very easily pays for itself compared to buying single tickets.
How does it work?
Like the Torino Card, the Royal Pass also corresponds to a QR Code that you can show directly from your smartphone to enter the Savoy residences and get discounts.
Be aware that, again, some attractions must be booked online in advance (or it is recommended to do so). It limits you a bit in setting your itinerary, but it allows you to avoid long lines at the entrance.
