Stockholm Pass
If you are planning a trip to Stockholm, you are probably wondering if there are tourist passes that allow you to save money on the city's main attractions.
Unlike other European capitals, where there are several cards with different formulas, there is currently only one official pass: the Stockholm All-Inclusive Pass from Go City.
This card offers access to numerous museums, tours and activities in the Swedish capital, allowing you to explore the city more conveniently and, in many cases, achieving significant savings over buying individual tickets.
But is it really convenient for your trip?
In this guide we will take a detailed look at how the Stockholm Pass works, what attractions it includes, and what benefits it offers, helping you determine if it is the right solution for your visit to Stockholm.
We will also keep the article updated for any new tourist cards that may be introduced in the future.
INDEX
What is the Stockholm Pass?
Go City's Stockholm Pass is the only all-inclusive tourist pass currently available for visiting the Swedish capital.
It provides access to more than 70 Stockholm attractions, museums, historic buildings, guided tours and boat excursions, all with a single payment and without having to purchase individual tickets.
The pass is available in different durations, from 1 to 5 days, and allows you to visit all included attractions during the validity period.
This means that the more you use it, the greater the savings you get compared to standard prices.
If your goal is Exploring Stockholm carefree, purchasing the Stockholm Pass is an excellent choice.
Thanks to the logic of the "it's already paid for anyway.", those who purchase this pass are able to visit more attractions than originally planned in their itinerary, maximizing the travel experience and deepening their knowledge of the Nordic culture and Swedish landscapes.
In the next few paragraphs we will look in detail at how it works, what it includes, and whether it really pays off for your Stockholm vacation.
Please note: Difference between Stockholm Pass and Stockholm Pass.
Looking for information online about tourist passes for Stockholm, you may come across the name Stockholm Pass. Although the name sounds identical to the Go City pass, it is a product that no longer exists.
In the past, the Stockholm Pass was offered by the company Strömma, but it was acquired by Go City, which reformulated its offerings, maintaining very similar operation and renaming it simply Stockholm Pass.
The main change from the previous version concerns public transportation: while the old Stockholm Pass included access to subway, streetcar, and regular buses, the new Stockholm Pass from Go City no longer includes this service.
However, you can still get around comfortably with the hop-on hop-off tourist bus, included in the pass, which provides easy access to the city's main attractions.
How does it work?
Go City's Stockholm Pass is easy to use and gives you access to many attractions without having to buy individual tickets.
It is available for varying durations of 1, 2, 3, or 5 days to better suit the characteristics of your trip.
The card includes a long list of museums, attractions, tours (over 70) that can be visited while the pass is valid (we'll see them in detail in a moment).
How is the pass used?
The Stockholm Pass is digital and is sent to you after purchase in the form of a QR Code, which you can:
- Use directly from your smartphone by installing the official Go City app.
- Print on paper to have it in physical format.
The pass is automatically activated on the first visit to an attraction or participation in a tour.
From that moment, the validity count (in consecutive days) begins.
You simply show the QR Code at the entrance to enter, or, where required, drop by the ticket office to convert the pass to a ticket (e.g., for boat tours).
To get the most out of the Stockholm Pass, it is advisable to activate it in the morning so as to take advantage of the full day of validity.
🕛 Important: The first day of use always expires at midnight, no matter what time you activate it.
This means that if you use it for the first time in the afternoon, you risk losing several precious hours.
If you are arriving in Stockholm in the afternoon or evening, consider postponing activation until the next morning, especially after you have arranged your luggage and hurriedly checked into your hotel.
That way, you can start the day with the pass already activated and take full advantage of each day included in your choice.
What the Stockholm Pass includes
The Stockholm Pass includes admissions to more than 70 attractions and experiences,
In addition to Stockholm's top attractions and museums. , several boat tours and guided tours are included in the pass, which are invaluable for discovering the city.
You also have the option of using both the boat and the bus in hop-on hop-off mode, for the duration of the pass (great thing this!).
For those unfamiliar with it, hop-on hop-off means that both boat and bus take a predefined step-by-step route at major points of interest in the city, and you can hop on and off wherever you like, as many times as you like.
Among the most interesting experiences the pass covers are:
- The Vasa Museum - houses the famous galleon sunk in 1628, which is perfectly preserved.
- The Viking Museum-a landmark for Viking history and culture.
- The Nobel Museum-dedicated to Alfred Nobel and the winners of the prestigious prize.
- The Nordic Museum- delves into the culture, traditions and history of Sweden.
- The Skyview-a scenic attraction that offers a striking view of Stockholm.
- The entrance to Storkyrkan, Stockholm Cathedral.
- The Waldermarsudde-the royal picture gallery, with some of Sweden's most important paintings.
Tours and Excursions Included
In addition to city attractions, the pass allows you to participate in exclusive tours to explore Stockholm and its archipelago, including:
✔ Fjäderholmarna Island Tour - An excursion to the first islands of the Stockholm archipelago.
✔ Archipelago tour to Artipelag - An experience combining nature and contemporary art.
Extra Benefits
📌 In some museums, free audio guides or discounts in gift stores are included in addition to free admission.
To see the complete and up-to-date list of included attractions, you can visit the official Go City website, where you will also find details on individual experiences and how to access them with the pass.
Stockholm card and transportation
The Stockholm Pass does not include public transportation.
It does, however, offer some ways to conveniently move between major tourist attractions
You can take advantage of hop-on hop-off tour buses and ferries, again in hop-on hop-off mode with unlimited access for the duration of the pass.
With these services you can get to Stockholm's main tourist spots, with the ability to hop on and off as you please.
In addition, during the ride you have audio commentary explaining what you are admiring on board or what awaits you once you get off at the next stop.
The buses are those of City Sightseeing, green and red in color. There are also other tourist buses, also red, from the company "Stockholm RED Buses," but these are not included in the pass.
Pictured are the hop-on hop-off buses included in the Stockholm Pass
Hop-on hop-off buses are a good alternative for getting around Stockholm, but they do not reach all parts of the city.
In particular they usually with efficiently cover travel to and from the hotel unless you are staying downtown near one of the bus or ferry stops.
They also run from about 10 a.m. and in winter stop running in the late afternoon.
Therefore, if you want more freedom in travel when the tour buses are not running and for other needs, you must rely on the city's efficient public transportation network.
Stockholm Travel Card
A few single tickets may suffice, but for frequent use of city buses, subways or streetcars, purchase the Stockholm Travel Card.
This is Stockholm's card dedicated exclusively to public transportation.
A pass that allows unlimited travel on subways, buses, trains and some ferries for 24 hours, 72 hours, 7 days or more.
You can find more information and all prices directly on the official Stockholm City SL transport website.
Stockholm metro station
Attraction reservations and skip the line
The Stockholm Pass makes it easy to enter most attractions: just show it at the entrance to gain access.
However, it is important to know that there are no real "skip the line" dedicated to pass holders.
Fortunately, there are no long waits at most museums and tourist sites.
The only exception may occur during the peak tourist season, particularly for boat tours.
Is it possible to book in advance?
📌 No, attractions and tours included in the Stockholm Pass cannot be booked in advance.
For some activities, such as boat tours, you will need to pick up your ticket at the ticket office first, subject to availability at the time.
Beware of boat tours: what to know
Boat trips organized by Strömma are among the most popular activities for tourists and can quickly run out of available seats, especially in the summer months.
👉 High season tip:
If you visit Stockholm during the busiest times of the year, it is essential to show up at the boat tour ticket office early in the morning, as soon as it opens, to secure a spot on the day's excursions.
You can then plan your itinerary without the risk of missing out on one of the coolest experiences offered by the pass.
Stockholm Pass prices: how much does it cost?
The list price of the Stockholm Pass may seem high, but it is important to know that it is almost always available at a discount on the official website.

Stockholm Pass: is it really worth it?
The affordability of the Stockholm Pass depends primarily on the type of trip you have in mind and how many attractions you plan to visit.
This card includes awide selection of museums, tours and experiences, so if you plan to explore many sites of interest, the savings can be significant.
Let's do a practical calculation to concretely estimate the savings with the Stockholm Card.
Cost Comparison: How much do you save?
To give you an idea, the average cost of an attraction in Stockholm is about 250 SEK (about 23 euros)
Let's consider 3-day itinerary, where we assume we will do 3 attractions per day (you can also do much more, but let's take a quiet example).
📌 3-day itinerary without pass:
3 attractions per day → 9 attractions total
Cost without a pass: 2250 SEK (approximately 205€)
📌 3-day itinerary with 3-day Stockholm Pass:
Cost of 3-day pass: 1799 SEK list price, 1520 SEK (about 138€) with site offer + discount code
Total savings: about 67€ per person
(multiply this by all people in the travel group)
💡 If you also consider the hop-on / hop-off buses and ferry (each is an attraction) that's 11.
And in 3 days you can visit even more, with the right planning.
In this case, the savings further increase in an important way.
The logic is the same for all pass denominations. Of course, the savings increase proportionally to the number of days of validity.
When is the Stockholm Pass NOT worth it?
The Stockholm Pass pretty much always pays off when you want to visit Stockholm in enough depth, as per a classic sightseeing trip.
When, on the other hand, your travel style wants to be more relaxed, preferring to explore the city on foot, stroll through historic neighborhoods and enjoy Stockholm without visiting museums or attractions, then the pass may not be necessary.
The same is true for very short stays of 1 or 2 days, where you have limited time and choose to devote it more to the city than to its attractions, seeing perhaps only one or two.
In this case it may not be advantageous to crowd the itinerary to amortize the cost of the card.
The convenience of the Stockholm Pass should also be evaluated according to the time of year you go on vacation.
In winter, many museums close early; making good use of the admissions and activities included in the pass requires good itinerary planning.
You will also need to consider adding a public transportation pass to get around after 4 p.m., when hop-on hop-off buses stop running.
In spring and summer, opening hours are extended, tour buses run longer, and boat tours are added to the pass offerings.
So with the warm season you have a wider range of possibilities, more attractions and experiences to enrich your vacation in Stockholm.
Boat tours included in the Stockholm Pass are only available in spring/summer

FAQ about the stockholm pass
Alternatively, you use a city public transportation pass, as explained in this guide in the relevant chapter.
In the case of the Stockholm All-Inclusive Pass, it is best to possibly activate the pass in the morning to take advantage of the entire first day.
In practice, the limit is high enough not to pose a problem for normal use. Only those who plan to visit exclusively very expensive attractions might approach the threshold, but for most travelers it does not affect the experience. If you want, you can elaborate on this value-based mechanism for conocence.
